Transforming Lives. Protecting Pollinators. Building Communities.

Hives for Heroes® is a national nonprofit organization committed to supporting the healing journey of Service Members, Veterans, and First Responders through the meaningful practice of beekeeping. What began in 2018 as a grassroots effort to provide purpose and community has since grown into the largest beekeeping network in the United States. Today, we proudly unite thousands of Heroes, mentors, and dedicated supporters across all 50 states, fostering connections that transcend geography and service backgrounds. With a membership exceeding 10,000 individuals and the management of more than 100,000 hives, our impact continues to expand year after year.

At the heart of Hives for Heroes® is a mission that is both simple and profound: to create a renewed sense of purpose, cultivate lasting connections, and build a strong community for those who have served. By pairing Heroes with experienced mentors, we provide opportunities for growth, learning, and healing, while also advancing environmental sustainability. Every hive not only supports the individual Hero tending to it but also contributes to the protection of pollinators and the preservation of ecosystems vital to our future.

Through the art and science of beekeeping, we empower Heroes to rediscover meaning, strengthen bonds with others, and make a lasting positive impact on both their own lives and the world around them.

    What We Do

Hives for Heroes empowers Service Members, Veterans, and First Responders by connecting them with purpose, healing, and community through the practice of beekeeping. By pairing Heroes with mentors, the organization fosters personal growth, builds supportive relationships, and promotes environmental sustainability while protecting pollinators that are vital to our ecosystems.

    Why We Exist

The transition from service can be challenging, leaving many Heroes facing isolation, stress, and loss of purpose. Beekeeping provides calm, focus, and connection. Through mentorship and community, Hives for Heroes creates a path of healing, restoring lives while protecting pollinators and strengthening the environment essential to everyone’s future.

“Bees, Balance, and Belonging — nurturing pollinators, restoring harmony in life, and creating a community where purpose and connection thrive.”
